The International Forum is a yearly event designed to fit with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) centennial vision:
By the year 2017 "we envision that occupational therapy is a powerful, widely recognized, science-driven, and evidence-based profession with a globally connected and diverse workforce meeting society’s occupational needs."
I was invited to be one of the panel for the International Forum. I spoke about my experience in the UK, OT in the UK generally and the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust travel award that has enabled me to spend 8 weeks in the Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at USC. Myself and one of the OT Faculty who has experience working in Ireland then led one of the break out groups talking about clinical experience overseas. Other panel members spoke about their experiences in gaining a Fulbright Award to return to her home in Chile to teach OTs, training and working in India, setting up programmes in Romanian orphanages and a fieldwork placement in Hong Kong.

My visit is almost at an end and this was a very enjoyable and interesting occasion to meet and talk to lots of the faculty staff and students.
Thanks to Tara Perry and the rest of the team for organising such a successful evening.
